The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), established by an Act of Parliament in 1985, has continuously striven to build an knowledge society through inclusive education. It has tried to increase the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) by offering high-quality teaching through the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. To fulfill that great ideal, IGNOU has become the “People’s University” of India. Today, it serves the educational aspirations of over 4 million students in India and 36 other countries through 21 Schools of Studies and a network of 67 regional centres, around 3,000 learner support centres and 67 overseas centres.The University offers about 490 certificate, diploma, degree and doctoral programmes, with strength of nearly 420 faculty members and academic staff at the headquarters and regional centres and about 36,000 academic counsellors from conventional institutions of higher learning, professional organisations, and industry among others.
The purpose is to provide equal opportunities for education to all sections of the Society; to bring into the mainstream those who deprived of education; to provide facility for higher education to the working class and to make possible affordable quality education. The College has sociated itself with this national mission of massive expansion of education by establishing a learners support centre of IGNOU at Seth G.B Podar College, Nawalgarh, Jhunjhunu, since the year 2000.
The centre has been awarded the Best Services Award under Regional office of IGNOU.

Counsellors and Counselling Session:
There are 32 enrolled counsellors, approved by IGNOU, interacting with the students to redeem its promise of providing higher education to all segments of society. Counselling sessions run only on Saturday and Sunday from 09.00 AM to 5.00 PM according to counseling schedule. Counselling schedule (Routine) is displayed on the notice board on the first Saturday through out session. There is no counseling session arranged in the months of June and December due to Term End Examinations. Students are requested to come to the center and go through the routine and attend the counseling session accordingly.
For Term End Examination June : From 1st March to 15th April.
For Term End Examination December: From 1st September to 15th October.
