The college Library is one of the oldest and richest libraries in Rajasthan It is well with a large collection of books by several prominent Indian and foreign authors. There is an open-shelf system having 81407 books and an exclusive collection of repute and also subscribes to all important daily newspapers, periodicals, and magazines. Apart from the journals and textbooks, the library possesses and maintains very rich reference sections comprising yearbooks, rare collections, dictionaries, and complete works of several Hindi and English writers. The library has been developed into Library. For convenience in managing and functioning the library is divided into four sections, namely, the general section the textbook section, the reference section, and the book bank.

Seth Gyaniram Bansidhar Podar College has the largest, fully air-conditioned, and well-equipped library among all the colleges in Rajasthan. The College library, located at the center of the campus, utilizes RFID technology with Integrated Multiuser Library Management Software. It is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and is under surveillance by CCTV Cameras. It is furnished with more than 1,00,000 books, around 9,200 book bank collections, 23 newspaper varieties, and 98 journals and magazines. It also has a broad spectrum of general and reference books to support the academic requirements of the students and faculty members. Apart from its in-house collection, the Library also offers full access to thousands of journals online.

The library is housed in a spacious area of the campus. The Library consists of various sections i.e. Librarian Room, Membership Section, fine collection point, periodical section, a Reference section, book drop box, OPAC, and Reading and recording room( Enabling Unit). The science stack hall (Science block) is located in a reading room facility for about 110 users. The Library consists of the Technical section, Book Bank Section, E-Resource Room, Reference section, and Faculty Room. The Arts and Commerce stack hall (Arts and Commerce Block) is located with a reading room facility for around 100 users.

Library Advisory Committee

Library Committee- the governing body of the College Library System – formulates library policies for the guidance of the College Librarian. This Committee has Dr. D.L. Bohra as its Convener. Five members of the teaching faculty. The organogram of the library is displayed below.

Library Rules

  • The Students will keep their identity cards and then will enter Library.
  •  Every person who enters the library will sign the visitor register.
  •  Users are not allowed to borrow books on the card of another reader.
  •  Use of the library is strictly reserved for readers possessing a library membership card.
  •  In case of a lost book library card, it should be reported immediately in writing to the Librarian.
  •  The marking and defacing of any publication are strictly forbidden.
  •  Smoking, eatables, and drinks are not allowed inside the library.
  •  Switch off Mobile phones or keep them on silent mode in the library.
  •  All readers are required to maintain discipline in the library. Library staff will not be responsible for the reader’s books.
  •  Outsiders are not allowed to use the library.
  •  No bags, umbrellas, parcels, files, and books be allowed into the Library. Adequate storage facilities have been provided at the entrance to the Library.
  •  On leaving the Library, all users are required to produce for inspection all books and items taken out of the Library.
  •  Fine will be imposed on returning an overdue book. The rate will be Rs 2/day per book.
  •  Borrowers will be held responsible for materials out on loan. If the material is lost,   An immediate report should be made to the Librarian to enable appropriate action to be taken.
  •  A borrower is allowed to either replace a lost or damaged book by purchasing it himself or requesting the Library for all books replaced must be of the latest edition.

Library Activity

  • Celebration of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Birth Anniversary

Every year Library celebrated Librarian Day and the Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Rangnathan. On the occasion, Library organized the Book Exhibition to inculcate the reading habit among the students. The program was celebrated by garlanding the portrait of Dr. S. R. Rangnathan

Disseminating the information about the library to new entrants

An expert talk was organized on the topic “Measuring the Research visibility through Academic Identifiers” in the Department of Library of Seth G.B. Podar College Nawalgarh. The subject export of the Seminar was Dr. Jasbir Singh Research officer (Kalanidhi Division) Indra Gandhi, National Center for The Arts Ministry of Culture Govt. of India New Delhi – 1100011.

 On 27th March From 03.00 to 04.00 pm, Dr. Jasbir Singh explained the basic Principles of measuring Research Visibility through Academic identifiers to the Faculty of the college. He also explained to the Faculty that for measuring visibility through Academic identifiers of the Research. How can we explain published online platforms etc? As well also show our research write to it other for Clair’s benefit for the lecture, the  Head of the Department of Zoology Dr. Bohara introduce call Dr. Jasbir Singh,

  • World book day and copyright day   

World book day & Copyright Day’ Was celebrated on 23 April 2022. It was organized by the Department of the library, Seth G. B. Podar College, Nawalgarh. It was held in the Library Hall. At first, the holy lamp was lit before the portrait of goddess Saraswati and lord Ganesha by Dr. Vinod kumar Saini, vice-principal, Seth G. B. Podar College, Nawalgarh.

Students prepared Projects on various topics with Paper cuttings using News, articles, editorials, and reviews published in daily Newspapers as a source of information.
